Effective date: March 24, 2026

Trovu ("we", "our", or "the app") is a Jellyfin client for Apple TV. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data the app collects, how it is used, and your rights.

1. Data we collect

Trovu is designed with a privacy-first approach. We collect as little data as possible.

1.1 Data stored locally on your device

The following data is stored only on your Apple TV and is never transmitted to us:

1.2 Data shared with third parties

Apple StoreKit (subscriptions): When you purchase or restore a Trovu Pro subscription, the app communicates directly with Apple's StoreKit framework. All purchase data is handled by Apple and governed by your Apple ID account. No purchase data is sent to us or any third party.

Your Jellyfin servers: The app communicates directly with Jellyfin servers that you configure. All data exchanged (library metadata, playback progress, authentication tokens) goes directly between your Apple TV and your servers. We have no access to this data.

TheTVDB: When you view cast or series details, the app may fetch supplementary metadata (actor biographies, photos) from TheTVDB's API through our proxy server. These requests contain only the TVDB content identifier (not your personal information or Jellyfin data).

2. Data we do not collect

3. Apple's data collection

Apple may collect certain data related to your use of apps downloaded from the App Store, including crash reports and subscription billing. This data is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.

4. Data retention

All app data stored on your Apple TV can be deleted at any time by clearing the app's caches in Settings or by deleting the app. Subscription data is managed entirely by Apple through your Apple ID.

5. Children's privacy

Trovu is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The app connects to user-owned Jellyfin servers, and any content restrictions should be managed through Jellyfin's built-in parental controls.

6. Security

Authentication credentials are stored using Apple's Keychain Services, which provides hardware-backed encryption on Apple TV. All communication with your Jellyfin servers uses the connection protocol (HTTP or HTTPS) that you configure.

7. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
